Fourteen years working in Xero, eight as Admin for Tradies, plus co-ownership of a trade business where I ran the admin. I know how the money moves in a small trade business and how fast a busy week buries the paperwork.

Why family businesses
The owner on the tools and someone at home doing the books at night.
That's who I like working with most. Small and medium trade businesses are family businesses. One to five people, the owner still on site, a partner or a parent keeping the paperwork going in the evenings.
I work directly with the owner and their staff, inside the workflow where the job, the bills, the payroll and the GST actually happen. That's where systems get put in place.

Where I come from
A trade business of my own
I co-owned a trade business and ran its admin. That's where I learned which paperwork earns its place.
The qualifications
Master in Business, Diploma in Lean Systems, Diploma in Accounting. Xero certified advisor and silver partner. NextMinute certified partner.
The mentoring
Seven years a volunteer mentor with Business Mentors New Zealand, mostly with trade and service businesses.
The team
Monique oversees every account and runs every GST and monthly check. Caron helps with bookkeeping on selected accounts.

Monique started Admin for Tradies after being the Office Manager and Shareholder in a mechanic workshop in Canterbury. She enjoys the difference good bookkeeping makes to small businesses and the relationship with both the business owner and their accountant. Monique deals with the oversight, system set-up, GST and monthly checks on every account.
Caron Mounsey-Smith
Caron helps Monique with some client accounts. She runs her own small business, NZ Final Drives, which imports aftermarket final drives for excavators. Caron also consults to central and local government on a wide range of issues. She is a strategic thinker who understands that getting the detail right matters. A great communicator, Caron will work with you to help keep your admin simple.
When I'm not working with tradies
I'm parenting two teenagers, out in the Port Hills walking my little dog, or floating in a magnesium float pod, which is a great place for business planning. This is Cooper, the office dog.
