Tradie Payroll

Pay runs done right, on time

Your crew get paid correctly and IRD gets filed on the day it's due. Holiday pay that stands up to scrutiny, leave balances that are actually right, and no Sunday night spent working out someone's public holiday entitlement.

What's actually involved

Payroll is the one place where getting it wrong costs you twice — once in money and once in trust with your crew.

What's included
  • The pay run itself — wages, allowances, deductions, checked before it goes
  • Timesheets collected, chased and checked against the job
  • PAYE, KiwiSaver, student loan and child support handled
  • Payday filing to IRD, every pay, on time
  • Holiday pay, sick leave, bereavement and public holidays worked out properly
  • Leave balances kept current so nobody's guessing
  • New starters set up, leavers finalised, final pays calculated
The bits that catch people out

Holiday pay on variable hours. Public holidays that fall on an otherwise working day. Casual staff who've quietly become permanent. Alternative days for working a public holiday. These are the calculations that come back to bite at year end, or when someone leaves unhappy.

We do them right the first time and keep a record of how they were worked out — so if it's ever questioned, there's an answer.

What we need from you

Employment agreements for each person, current pay rates, and timesheets in whatever form you already use — an app, a spreadsheet, or photos of a paper sheet.

We'll also want to know your cut-off: the day and time timesheets need to be in for us to pay on time. That one agreement solves most payroll stress.

How pricing works

To start, hourly — until we can see how many people, how variable the hours, and how clean the timesheets are. Once it settles into a rhythm, most clients move to a fixed price per pay run so it's a known cost in the budget.

Setting up or cleaning up an existing payroll is quoted separately as a one-off, so ongoing pay runs aren't carrying the cost of the tidy-up.

Taking over an existing payroll

We check the leave balances and holiday pay calculations before we take the first pay run, not after. If something's been calculated wrong for two years, you want to know that on day one — and you want to decide how to fix it, rather than discover it when someone resigns.
